Calimesa City Council Meeting
Congratulations Mustangs Robotics Team!
The mayor of Calimesa, Jeff Hewitt was very impressed with your team presentation at Toastmaster on Thursday night. Thank you all for taking the time to be there, and thanks to the parents who drove, you make us all so proud!
Mr. Hewitt was so impressed that he would like you to present again, this time at the Calimesa City Council meeting, and give you award certificates for your excellent work. Mesa View is the only public school in the City of Calimesa boundaries and he wants to celebrate your winning robotics season with the community. The meeting will be February 1st, 6:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 908 Park Avenue, next to City Hall. Presentations will be in the beginning of the meeting and you’ll be able to leave when you are finished. Congratulations again for representing Mesa View so well. Please R.S.V.P. thank you.
Southern California Champions!
On Sunday, December 6th, the MVMS Robotics Team competed against 63 other teams at the FLL Southern California Regional Championship at LEGOLAND. They had a fantastic showing and were among only 7 other teams to receive call back judging for both Core Values and Project. The team came away with a 1st place trophy for Core Values: Gracious Professionalism. Congratulations to Caitlin W., Anne S., Atalie B., Ava Z., Olivia M., Quinn B., and Abigail K., for their outstanding performance! Go Mustangs!
I've attached the schedule for Sunday at Legoland below, we are team #8. You can see we are up right away with judging at 8:00 a.m. We will have printed schedules available at Thursday's practice. So excited!
We're going to Legoland!
Congratulations to all three Mustang Robotics teams and their excellent performance at the UCR Qualifying Tournament. Mesa View Middle School’s Mustangs robotics teams are having a great season this year. Mesa View hosted a scrimmage on October 24th with 17 teams attending, including the Technomaniacs and the Wall-e Bots from Chapman Heights Elementary school. On Saturday, November 7th all three Mustang teams competed at the UCR Regional Qualifying Tournament. Competing against 11 teams, Mustangs 2 earned first place in Project for their innovative idea to solve the ever increasing problem of space trash. Mustangs 1 earned the Championship trophy and the right to compete at LegoLand in the Southern California Regional Championships in December. Team members Caitlin, Quinn, Atalie, Abigail, Olivia, Anne, and Ava will compete against 100 other teams from Southern California.
UCR Map Update
The old UCR map was incorrect. A revised map was posted at noon November 5th and is the correct map.
UCR Qualifying Tournament
It's here! The UCR qualifying tournament is Saturday 8:00 - 2:00. Files have been added below with maps and schedules. See you there, so exciting
Saturday Practice Cancelled
October 10th Saturday school is cancelled due to technical difficulties. Mrs. Shook and Mrs. Pennino can't attend and I don't feel comfortable being on campus alone, so we are cancelling practice this Saturday. To make up for it, mandatory practice on Thursday, October 15th will run from 12:20 - 4:00. While we aren't making it mandatory, I strongly suggest teams plan on staying for all practices until 4:00 from now on.
Congratulations to the 21 members of the 2015 Mesa View Robotics team. Team member names and team assignments are in the F103 window. Great news about this year's t-shirts, they will now read "Mesa View Robotics Team" instead of "Club", and we'll have names on the sleeves of our shirts at no extra cost. T-shirt money is due Friday, September 11th.
Robotics Team Tryouts FLL 2015
Tryouts for the 2015 FLL Robotics Team are here! If you are interested in being on this year's team come to room F103 Tuesdays and Thursday's after school 2:15-3:15 beginning August 18th. All students are welcome to come, you don't need experience to be on the team and 6th and 7th graders are encouraged to participate. Final teams will be announced September 3rd. There will be an after school club offered in the spring if you're interested in robotics without the competition.
Next year's FLL theme is Trash Trek, so visit the FLL site and start thinking about what that might look like for a Lego Challenge and Project. If you have any questions about the club or team, please email one of the coaches, Darlene Pitman, Kellie Pennino, or Marilee Shook.
2014 - 1st Place Inspirational Core Values Award
Go Mustangs! We had a great time at Legoland Southern California Regional Championships. We am so proud of both teams and the way they showed all the core values like Gracious Professionalism, and the ability to Be a Team and Have Fun. Trevor, Joel, Jared, Gregory, and Ram brought their 'A' game and had a good run at the robot table tournament. They did a great job of showing off what they've accomplished this year. Caitlin, Trevor, Atalie, Quinn, Dustan, and Matthew rocked the competition earning not one, but two callbacks, for Core Values and Project. It came down to the wire but they won 1st Place Inspirational Core Values Award, something they can be truly proud of. They are an amazing team. All your coaches and families are happy and delighted by your accomplishments, you worked hard and it showed. Great job.
